Working with English Language Learners in the Mainstream Classrooms

Co-sponsored by the Ohio Education Association, this workshop is designed to help classroom teachers understand the diverse needs of the English language learners in their classrooms.  Effective strategies and practices that take into account the students’ cultural and linguistic diversity will be discussed.

Topics include;  Cultural Diversity, the role of language acquisition, literacy development, academic/content area development, and assessment.

Who should attend:  Classroom teachers, administrations, intervention specialists, ESL/ELL teachers and coaches, paraprofessionals.

Date:  Saturday, February 25th

Cost:  $25 for members/$50 for non-members

Time:  Registration is from 8:30-9:00.  Workshop is from 9:00-3:00.  Speakers will be available for questions until 3:30.

Location:  Ohio Education Association (OEA)  225 East Broad Street  Columbus, Ohio

Snacks/Lunch will be provided by OEA
